The wisdom of menopause is very different to the narrative of menopause. Which one do you most align with?
The narrative tells us that it’s something we can control and medicate away if we don’t like any of the unpleasant conditions that come with it.
The wisdom tells us that we are transitioning into the archetype of Crone becoming a wise elder as opposed to elderly.
The narrative tells us that we must be in control and go and see a “specialist” if we find it’s unpleasant or difficult. We can demand our hormones be checked 10 years before it’s even there so that we can prepare in advance and stay in charge.
The wisdom invites us to surrender and welcome this transition and drop into the pause. If it’s for us there’s no need to resist? Can we see the rising heat and anger as an invitation to pause and take stock burning away all those things we do that block us from living our truth. The relentless people pleasing, overfilling our schedules so that we barely have time to breathe, the chronic exhaustion from being all things to everyone but forgetting ourself. Or, goddess forbid, injecting poisonous shit into our faces to look younger which never works.
The narrative tells us that there’s something wrong with us, but don’t worry because there’s always some expert around with something to sell us to make it all better
The wisdom says f**k that - maybe it’s time to work out how to REALLY look after ourself, so we can rise up and step into who we actually are…
