Time after time

Whoosh.

Did you see that flash past? Yep there goes January - where did the time go? I’m trying to spend my time more wisely this year - spending less time on the stuff that drains - generally social media, laundry and marketing and more time on that which energises- seeing friends, doing yoga and (sad I know) watching The Apprentice. I get so much energy from being around others. When we practise in community we cultivate a special bigger energy that lifts us up as we rise together. So how are you spending your time this year? It’s so easy to get on the treadmill and convince ourselves we have no time for fun or activities that fill us up but when we take time out to do things that make us happy we have more energy and, ironically, by stepping away we get more done. Sogyal Rinpoche, Tibetan Lama, says “ if we look at our lives, we will see clearly how many unimportant tasks, so called ‘responsibilities’ accumulate to fill them up. We tell ourselves we want to spend more time on the important things in life but there never seems to be enough time. There are things which have to be done and we feel we have no choice about. By the time we are finished doing everything that has to be done, we’re too tired to do anything else”. Carving out some time for yoga and meditation practices helps manage and boost your energy - from building strength and stamina, improving cardiovascular function and flexibility as well as moving stagnant energy and stuck emotions through the body.

“Of time you would make a stream upon whose bank you would sit and watch its flowing. Yet the timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness, And knows that 'yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream”

Khalil Gibran
